Über die Urheberinnen:

Prof. Christian Karagiannidis, ist Facharzt für Innere Medizin, Pneumologie und Intensivmedizin und Leiter des ECMO-Zentrums Köln-Merheim. Er studierte in Düsseldorf und Regensburg und wurde 2011 auf den ersten Lehrstuhl für Extrakorporale Lungenersatztherapie an der Universität Witten/Herdecke berufen. Von 2020 bis 2022 war er Präsident der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Internistische Intensivmedizin und Notfallmedizin. Seit 2021 ist er Mitglied der Fachgruppe COVRIIN am Robert Koch-Institut und Sprecher der Intensivmedizin sowie Mitglied im Sachverständigenrat des Bundeskanzleramtes. Im Jahr 2024 wurde er in das Nachfolgegremium, den Sachverständigenrat Gesundheit und Resilienz, berufen.
